In a statement released by the station Tuesday, Trahan said she was resigning because she wanted to spend more time with her family.
“After much thought and consideration, I have decided that my family time is suffering and I cannot be the kind of mom I want to be to my three children,” she said. “While I have enjoyed 23 wonderful years in the news business (18 of those right here at RTV6), I have decided it is time to put my family first.”
Trahan joined WRTV in 1994 as a general assignment reporter and later anchored the weekend news. For the past 14 years, she has anchored both the station’s weekday morning and noon newscasts.
A WRTV spokesman said station reporter Tanya Spencer will fill Trahan’s anchor duties until a permanent replacement is named. Spencer came to WRTV in 2005 from WFIE-TV Channel 14 in Evansville.
