The new chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and the GOP's top lieutenants on the panel will have the task of writing Indiana's next biennial budget during the 2013 session.
Bosma said Wednesday he had interviewed more than seven lawmakers interested in the job.
Republican Jeff Espich created the opening atop the panel when he decided not to seek re-election after four decades in the General Assembly.
Lawmakers will have a sizable cash reserve to work with when they return in January. But incoming Gov. Mike Pence has already said he would like to use that money to shore up state savings and cut the personal income tax by 10 percent.
