The university Board of Trustees on Saturday appointed Linda L.M. Bennett to replace school President H. Ray Hoops on July 1. Hoops is retiring after 15 years as president of the nearly 10,000-student school in Evansville.
Bennett has been the university’s provost and vice president for academic affairs since 2003. She was dean of arts and sciences and a political science professor at Appalachian State University in North Carolina before joining USI.
Other finalists considered were USI vice president of student affairs Robert Parrent and Murray State University business college Dean Timothy Todd.
