Keystone RV Company in Goshen announced it is consolidating operations and downsizing its work force by about 350 employees through April. Keystone plans to close several of its plants, including one in Howe.
Keystone president Ron Fenech said the company had delayed the layoffs as long as it could.
Jayco Inc., meanwhile, announced it would lay off more than 250 workers at its Middlebury plant.
The job cuts will add to the economic troubles in Elkhart County, which had an unemployment rate of 15.3 percent in December. That’s the highest in the state.
