The International Center’s Festival Fund, which supports internationally-focused organizations that showcase and celebrate cultural diversity in central Indiana, accepts grant applications. Preference of sponsorship is provided to organizations promoting education about the nations that represent the residents of central Indiana and that highlight the arts, cultures, foods and traditions of those nations. Consideration is given to both single and multi-day events that are open to the public and where promoting a more diverse Indiana is fundamental to the event. Fundraising results
The American Heart Association raised more than $600,000 during its annual Go Red for Women Celebration.

Grants
Humane Society of Indianapolis, FACE, Cat’s Haven and Southside Animal Shelter received grants totaling $1.5 million from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.

Englewood Community Development Corp., Camptown, Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center and Eskenazi Health Foundation received grants from The Indianapolis Colts’ PLAY 60 Fitness Grant program.

Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville received a grant of $50,000 from the Hirst Family Charitable Fund.

Dove Recovery House received $4,000 from the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana to be used for emergency expenses related to a January 5 fire.

Amy Berns, teacher at James Russell Lowell School, received a $500 Classroom Innovator grant from Bright House Networks.

Sheridan, Ind., was awarded $10,000 by Duke Energy’s Community Growth Partnership Grant Program to help prepare four 20-acre industrial parcels to attract new business.

Assistance League of Indianapolis’ Operation School Bell program received grants of $7,500 from the Pacers Foundation, $5,000 each from Belden Americas and The Shaw-Burckhardt-Brenner Foundation, $2,500 each from Ayres Foundation Inc. and The OneAmerica Foundation, $2,000 from Randle Family Foundation, $1,500 from Downtown Optimist Foundation, $1,000 from The Samerian Foundation and $500 from Family Dollar Stores Inc.

Indiana Soccer Foundation received a $62,000 donation from the Greater Indiana Regional League of Soccer to be used for Indiana girls travel soccer player scholarships.

The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence received a 5-year, $1.8 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Indianapolis Public Library was given a $1 million gift by the Herbert Simon Family Foundation to endow the administration of early literacy and technology programming for children up to age five.

Eleven food projects in Indianapolis received grants totaling $49,450 from the Indy Food Fund.

Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership was awarded a $6.3 million grant by Lilly Endowment Inc.

In Recognition
Virginia Brooks, St. Francis Franciscan Alliance, received the Healing Spirit Award from Cancer Support Community for excellence in providing compassionate care.

Chase Bank, Indiana was named Lender of the Year and Blake Sanderson, Ameriana Bank, and Michael Schwartz, PNC Bank, were named Financial Advocates of the Year by Premier Capital Corp.

Twenty-six Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP attorneys were named 2013 Indiana Super Lawyers and six attorneys were selected for inclusion in Indiana Rising Stars 2013.

Twenty-six attorneys at Bose McKinney & Evans LLP were named Indiana Super Lawyers 2013 and eight were selected as Indiana Rising Stars 2013. In addition, Bryan H. Babb and Timothy J. O Hara were listed among the Top 50 attorneys in Indiana and Mary M. Ruth Feldhake was included in Top 25 Women Indiana Super Lawyers.

Eighteen Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP attorneys were named Indiana Super Lawyers 2013 and 14 were named Indiana Rising Stars 2013.

Nine attorneys at Lewis Wagner LLP were named Indiana Super Lawyers 2013; five were listed in the Top 50 and John Trimble ranked number one overall in Indiana for Civil Litigation Defense. Nine attorneys were named Indiana Rising Stars 2013.

Dr. Tony Rumschlag was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award and Dr. Jerry Risser was given the President’s Award by the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association.

Gary Vance, BSA LifeStructures, has been elected into the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows.

Steve Wigand, RE/MAX Realty Plus, was named Realtor of the Year by the Southwest Indiana Association of Realtors.

Defender Direct was included in Training magazine’s Training Top 25 for excellence in employee training and development programs.

Forty-four attorneys from Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s Indianapolis office were named 2013 Indiana Super Lawyers, with John Maley ranking in the top 10. Nine attorneys were named Indiana Rising Stars.

Easley Winery’s Reggae Blush wine was awarded “Best Blush” and a double gold medal at the 2013 Florida State Fair International Wine Competition. Three other Easley wines received gold medals.
