Builders filed 366 permits in the nine-county Indianapolis area, according to figures released Wednesday by the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. That’s up from 281 in February 2012.
The increase follows a 55-percent jump in January, bringing total permits in the first two months of the year to 669, a 40-percent increase from the same period in 2012.
Hamilton County had the most filings in February with 160, a 65-percent increase from February 2012.
Marion County filings increased 53 percent, to 63.
The only other county to post an increase was Boone, where filings climbed 18 percent, to 40.
Filings in Hendricks County fell 14 percent, to 38; in Johnson County, the number dipped 12 percent, to 37.
Fourteen permits were filed last month in Hancock County, the same as in February 2012.
