In a notice to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Briljent said it would begin laying off the employees May 31 and be finished by June 13.
Tammy Brodzeller, Briljent’s director of human resources, said Monday that the Castleton office, 6435 Castleway W. Dr., would remain open with 10 to 30 employees.
Most of the positions being eliminated are instructional designers, content specialists and editors.
Brodzeller called the layoffs “very unfortunate,” but said the company “remains strong” and has other contracts “in the pipeline” that could lift employment in the near future.
Briljent currently has about 230 employees companywide. In addition to Fort Wayne and Castleton, the firm has offices in Chicago and Baltimore.
Briljent was founded in 1998 by Kathy Carrier.
