Dutchmen human resources director Suzanne Randall said the production and office workers at the Goshen plant were given notice on Friday and laid off the same day. They were not given severance packages.
Randall blamed the layoffs on the continuing slump in the RV market.
Dutchmen is a brand of Jackson Center, Ohio-based Thor Industries Inc., the world’s largest RV manufacturer.
The news is another blow to Elkhart County, which has seen its unemployment rate triple to more than 15 percent in the past year because of layoffs in the RV industry.
Randall says about 600 people still work at Dutchmen, and most plants are operating five days a week.
