Co-owner Bernie Combs sent an e-mail to 4:59 barberlounge customers yesterday, saying the upscale salon was closing immediately after weeks of deliberation.
“It has become quite clear that, while the concept is great and our clients love what we do … 4:59 will just never be a viable, successful business,” he wrote.
Billing itself as a place for men to get an old-fashioned shave without the old-fashioned haircut, 4:59 offered a range of services including massage, waxing and nail and skin care.
