Thanks for Benner’s [May 6] column. There are far too many street/grand prix races already. The new IndyCar director should focus on bringing ovals back into the fold, rather than adding an IndyCar road race at the hallowed grounds of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It would set a bad precedent.

No amount of sophistry or gimmickry will mask the sudden disappearance of oval racing accelerated, although not begun, by Bernard.

Nor can this basic fact be concealed: Street racing is boring. If you see three passes up front during an entire race, you’re lucky.

Miles is off to a terrible start proposing a grand prix race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to end the season. These days you want bold? Oval races! If not, IndyCar is dead within five years, except for (of course) Indy.
