Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials made the announcement Saturday night. Next year's race will be run in mid-August, with a date yet to be announced.
Both sides could have opted out of the final year of a contract that expires after next season. But track President Doug Boles said Saturday night that the two sides reached an agreement to run a seventh race in Indy in 2014.
Boles said negotiations have already begun on a long-term deal.
There have been questions about the future of MotoGP races at Indy because crowds have steadily declined since the inaugural race in 2008.
