Subscribe NowTribune Co. is moving television executive Paul Rennie back to Indianapolis to fill the vacant post of vice president and general manager at WXIN-TV Fox 59 and WTTV-Channel 4, the company said Thursday.
Rennie currently is general sales manager at the Tribune’s Seattle stations, KCPQ-TV and KZJO-TV. He held the same post from 2001 to 2003 at WRTV-TV Channel 6 in Indianapolis.
Rennie fills the top job at WXIN and WTTV formerly held by Larry Delia. Delia was lured away by Dispatch Broadcast Group in June to lead its WTHR-TV Channel 13 in Indianapolis.
Delia has been sitting out his contract with Chicago-based Tribune to eventually replace WTHR General Manager John Cardenas, who was promoted to Dispatch operations in Columbus, Ohio.
At WXIN and WTTV, Tribune is hoping Rennie will do as he did in Seattle—increase market share, developing new business and introducing new media opportunities into the sales mix.
In Seattle, he was also credited for developing a strategic partnership with the Seattle Seahawks.
“I’m happy to be returning to Indianapolis, which is a great market that offers a lot of opportunity,” Rennie said in a prepared statement. “These are solid stations with great staffs.”
Rennie graduated from Brigham Young University in 1985 with a degree in communications.
