Officials in a central Indiana county are preparing to demolish the final six homes of more than 100 damaged by 2008 flash flooding that swamped hundreds of homes.

The city of Franklin is finalizing deals to demolish four homes in its jurisdiction, while Johnson County officials are nearing demolition of the final two houses in its buyout.

Franklin senior planner Joanna Myers says the demolitions in the city 20 miles south of Indianapolis will allow everybody "to move on with their lives" five years after the flooding.

The Daily Journal reports a total of 107 homes will have been razed with about $8.5 million in federal funds once the six homes are leveled.

Parts of central Indiana were hit by June 2008 flash flooding caused by torrential rains.
