An auto parts maker is planning to move production from two Michigan factories to a new facility just across the state line in northeastern Indiana.

Quebec-based Exo-s US says it will spend nearly $7 million on the factory in the LaGrange County town of Howe. It expects to open the factory next year and hire up to 250 workers by 2016.

The company said Wednesday it will shift production from factories in Three Rivers and Centreville, Mich., where it has about 200 workers.

Company president Todd Fowler said the Indiana site will accommodate increased production while holding down costs.

The company makes molded plastic parts such as engine covers and fluid reservoirs.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is offering the company up to $2.75 million in conditional tax credits and $225,000 in training grants.
