Westcon Group, which mostly handles computer and other technology equipment, opened a 200,000-square-foot warehouse that will serve as the company’s Midwestern hub, company officials said during a Dec. 3 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Indianapolis suburb beat out several other similar-size cities, including Memphis, Tenn., and St. Louis, said Simon Minett, Westcon’s executive vice president of global operations and logistics.
The close location to Indianapolis International Airport, easy access to rail lines, and abundance of highways calculated into quicker shipping times and an all-around better business model, Minett said.
The privately owned company has more than 3,000 employees and $4 billion in revenue.
