The Indianapolis Colts have sold out Saturday’s playoff game at Lucas Oil Stadium, avoiding a local television blackout, the team announced Friday morning.

Meijer Inc. purchased 1,200 remaining tickets to the game against the Kansas City Chiefs and plans to donate them to local military families, helping the Colts reach the sellout. The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer is the team’s exclusive grocery sponsor.

The Colts said late Thursday afternoon that fewer than 3,500 tickets remained available, with prices varying from $56 to $155.

The National Football League’s blackout rule states teams must sell out tickets 72 hours in advance of each game’s kickoff time to have the contest broadcast on local television. But the Colts received two deadline extensions.

The Colts-Chiefs playoff game at 4:35 p.m. Saturday is scheduled to be aired locally on WTHR-TV Channel 13.

The Colts said 300 tickets have been returned by the Chiefs and won’t count toward the blackout rule. They are for sale through the Lucas Oil Stadium ticket office and other channels.
