The Indiana House is set to vote on the bill Monday. The measure would prevent law enforcement from operating unmanned aircraft, requesting passwords for electronic data or using real-time tracking devices without first obtaining court orders.
The legislation comes amid growing concern over the National Security Agency's access to citizens' phone and Internet records.
Critics say the bill's provisions could unnecessarily complicate police work.
If passed by the House, the bill still would need approval from the Senate and Gov. Mike Pence before becoming law.
