Indianapolis-based Emmis signed an agreement with Gen2Media Corp. of Orlando, Fla., to launch the video networks on the Web sites of five stations – three in New York City and two in Los Angeles.
The agreement expands upon an existing partnership between the two companies. Gen2Media last year helped Emmis transform WQHT-FM 97 in New York City into an ad-supported online television network with the launch of HOT 97 TV. It features a lineup of on-demand, high-definition-quality music videos, celebrity interviews, streaming news headlines and original programming.
Emmis operates 23 radio stations across the country. Its stock, which had been mired below 46 cents a share for most of this year, shot up to 78 cents on Friday. Shares since have fallen back, and were trading at 46 cents this morning.
