An Eli Lilly and Co. manager will be the new executive director of the Indiana Charter School Board.

Nick LeRoy will lead the state board, which reviews, approves and regulates some of the state’s charter schools. The charter board released its first annual report this week.

LeRoy had been the global marketing manager at Lilly before moving to the charter board. He joined Lilly in 2007 and held a number of different positions, working on the Cialis brand as well as the global launch of Amyvid, a drug used in the detection of Alzheimer’s disease.

He also worked at Roche.

“Nick will be a tremendous asset to our leadership team,” said Maureen Weber, chair of the charter board.  “We look forward to working with him as the ICSB continues to strive toward expanding high-quality educational opportunities for all Hoosier students.”

The charter board is currently in the middle of its spring application cycle. Members are scheduled to meet May 1 to vote on the applications.

“I am very excited to be joining the ICSB during this period of educational reform and advancement,” LeRoy said in a prepared statement.  “Providing students access to high-performing educational environments that best serve their own learning style and needs is incredibly important, and I look forward to the ICSB being a catalyst to achieving that goal.”
