Pence has made tax cuts centerpieces of both legislative agendas he has submitted since taking office nearly a year and half ago. However, despite the Republican Party's dominance of the General Assembly, Pence has struggled to get everything he has sought.
A proposed cut in the income tax was dialed back last year, as was a proposed elimination of the state's tax on business equipment. Lawmakers instead pushed their own proposed cuts, including the elimination of the state's inheritance tax.
