City officials in Greensburg say the additional jobs will be added as $27.8 million is spent on new equipment for the 400,000-square-foot Valeo Engine Cooling factory to start new product lines for Honda, Nissan, Chrysler and Ford.
Mayor Gary Herbert told the Greensburg Daily News he supported a longer-than-usual six-year property tax abatement on Valeo's new equipment because of the investment's size and number of new jobs expected.
The French company now has about 675 workers at the Greensburg plant. That's up from about 400 employees in January 2013 when the company announced another expansion for the factory about 40 miles southeast of Indianapolis.
Valeo also is working with state economic development officials for incentives on the project, according to the Greensburg Decatur County Economic Development Corp.
Valeo has 124 plants, 16 research centers, 35 development centers, 12 distribution platforms and employs 74,800 people in 29 countries worldwide.
