The company said it will accommodate the expansion by buying and renovating a building at 4105 Vickers Drive in Columbus, across the street from its current headquarters
Elwood Staffing already employs about 200 in Indiana and about 1,000 across the country. The new jobs will be in accounting, legal, information technology, human resources and occupational safety.
“We are humbled and honored to have experienced tremendous growth over the years,” said Mark Elwood, CEO of Elwood Staffing. “The outstanding efforts and contributions of Elwood employees nationwide, combined with tremendous customer relationships and strong economic conditions, have contributed to the demand for our services.”
Founded in 1980 by Dr. David L. Elwood, the company provides workers to the manufacturing, administrative, information technology, engineering, customer service and skilled-trade industries. Elwood Staffing has 180 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Its revenue has increased from $1 million in revenue in 1996 to an expected $900 million for 2014.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Elwood Staffing up to $425,000 in performance-based tax credits based on the company's job-creation plans.
According to the IEDC, Elwood Staffing had 84 workers at its headquarters when it began discussing the incentives agreement, which means the firm must employ 124 workers in Columbus by the end of 2017 to qualify for the incentives.
