New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corp. President Corey Murphy said the project by Boar's Head Meats includes an initial investment of $80 million.
The company is buying nearly 65 acres of land in an industrial park near New Castle, about 40 miles east of Indianapolis, the Courier-Times reported. The 150,000-square-foot plant will be built at County Road 400 South and Indiana 3.
The Florida-based company processes deli meats and has been looking at the New Castle location for the past few months. Boars Head was founded in Brooklyn in 1905 and moved its headquarters to Sarasota in 2001.
