Jeremiah Hamman, 34, is now the sole owner of the steakhouse at the northeast corner of Pennsylvania and Maryland streets. Terms of the deal, announced yesterday, were not disclosed.
Hamman joined with Vassallo to open the local Mo’s in August 2003. Vassallo will continue to operate Mo’s steakhouses in Milwaukee and Houston. He also owns Mo’s Irish Pub in Noblesville.
Hamman started in the restaurant industry in 1999 as a server at Morton’s the Steakhouse in Indianapolis. He rose to general manager within two years.
Before Mo’s, the Majestic Oyster Bar & Grill occupied the 8,500-square-foot space for 21 years. When Mo’s moved in, it also took over about 1,100 square feet that had been occupied by an architectural bookstore.
The 10-story building, also known as the Majestic, was built in 1896 to house the Indianapolis Gas Co. and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
