Anderson University says its board of trustees has approved outgoing U.S. Transportation Security Administration Director John Pistole as the president-elect of the school.

The election Monday of the 58-year-old Pistole is expected to be ratified next June by the General Assembly of the Church of God (Anderson), which operates the 2,500-student university. He would become the fifth president in Anderson University's nearly 100-year history.

Pistole, an Anderson native, is a graduate of the private university located about 30 miles northeast of Indianapolis and the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.

Pistole announced Oct. 16 that he would retire from government at the end of this year after being TSA administrator for four and a half years. Before that, he spent 26 years with the FBI.
