Kruzan announced Tuesday he will leave the mayor's office at the end of 2015. The Democrat said he never thought he would serve eight years as mayor, let alone 12.
Before being elected mayor in 2003, Kruzan was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1986 to 2002. When he left the Legislature, he was House majority leader.
He told The Herald-Times that during his last term as state representative he began to think he had stayed one term too many and was starting to feel the same way about being mayor.
Kruzan said he has no plans to remain involved in politics.
