Water boarding justified

Professor Sheila Kennedy [Dec. 29 Viewpoint] seems to conveniently forget two important events related to the water boarding performed on a few people who possessed vital and important information.

One: There was a legal memorandum produced by the Department of Justice stating that the technique was not torture. Two: Islamic terrorists had just hijacked four planes and purposely killed thousands of Americans, and there was reason to suspect that it would continue.

So put into context, what was done was legal and justified.
