The Las Vegas-based airline said the flights will be offered twice weekly to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport with one-way introductory fares as low as $76.
The announcement is the latest from Allegiant in recent months regarding Indianapolis. Next month, the airline plans to start service from Indy with flights to five destinations: Las Vegas, New Orleans and three Florida cities: St. Petersburg, Orlando and Punta Gorda.
The five-city launch will be the biggest in Allegiant's history, the airline said.
When the flights to Fort Lauderdale begin in April, Allegiant will be operating 19 weekly flights from Indianapolis to six destinations.
Southwest Airlines also has recently announced an increase in Indianapolis service. The Dallas-based airline said it will launch new nonstop service to Boston and Los Angeles, moves that step up competition in Indianapolis for business travelers.
