Honorary chairwoman is Cordelia Lewis-Burks, a former labor union lobbyist and vice chairwoman of the Indiana Democratic Party. Her co-chairs are former Lt. Gov. Kathy Davis; Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry; and David Hampton, senior pastor at Light of the World Christian Church.
In announcing the leadership team on Jan. 27, Hogsett’s campaign noted that last year Indianapolis saw another increase in violent drug crime, making the city one of the 10 deadliest in the nation; that one in three children lives in poverty; and that educational attainment lags the national average.
Other members of the team are Justin Christian, CEO of the IT services firm BCforward; Dr. Lisa Harris, CEO of Eskenazi Health; real estate agent Joe Everhart; Angela Smith Jones, director of public policy at the Indy Chamber; Mark Gerstle, a vice president at the logistics industry group Conexus; Lori Kaplan, a former Indiana Department of Environmental Management commissioner and staff member at the Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority; Marco Dominguez, community sales director at Financial Center Credit Union; retired Indiana Sports Corp. President Susan Williams; and William Groth, a partner at the law firm Fillenwarth Dennerline Groth & Towe LLP.
At least four Republicans are poised to run for mayor. They are restaurant owner and Iraq War veteran Chuck Brewer, Deputy Mayor Olgen Williams, notary public Jocelyn-Tandy Adande and former Fall Creek Township trustee Terry Michael.
