The Republican candidates are Jocelyn-Tandy Adande, Lawrence Shouse, Darrell Morris, Terry Michael and Charles Brewer.
Adande, Shouse and Morris all have sought office before; Shouse and Morris ran for mayor in 2007, when Greg Ballard won the Republican primary. That year, Marion County Republicans slated frequent candidate and businessman Bob Parker, who dropped out after making controversial remarks about wealthy Jewish people.
This year, the local GOP slated Brewer, a small-business owner and Iraq war veteran, who was also endorsed by Ballard. Deputy Mayor Olgen Williams had announced his intention to run, but after Brewer was slated, Williams didn’t file for the office.
Larry Vaughn, a frequent critic of city government, will run against leading Democratic candidate Joe Hogsett.
