Purdue football games drew an average of about 35,000 fans during home games last year, the lowest level since 1951, the Journal and Courier of West Lafayette reported. Attendance fell 28 percent from 2013, and it was the biggest drop among teams in the Big Ten, Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Pac-12 and Southeastern conferences.
Purdue Athletic Director Morgan Burke said in a news release that the school hopes reduced prices will bring fans back.
Big draws in 2013 included home games against Notre Dame, Nebraska and Ohio State. Home games next season for Purdue include matchups against Virginia Tech, Nebraska and Indiana University.
Purdue has won just four games in two years, and hasn't won a Big Ten home game since 2012.
The highest priced season tickets have been dropped nearly $50, to $224 each. Those seats carry a one-time legacy fee of $100 to $250. Ticket prices in other sections have been sliced as much as $77, to $98 each, when purchased in quantities of four.
