Fishers could soon have a bigger population than Carmel’s.

According to 2014 population estimates recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Fishers has grown 12.4 percent since the 2010 census and has 86,325 residents.

Carmel’s population is estimated to be 86,682, a 9.4-percent increase since 2010. It is the largest city in Hamilton County.

Westfield had the county’s biggest growth spurt since the 2010 census—increasing 17.4 percent to a total of 35,297.

Noblesville, the county seat, also grew close to 11 percent, bringing the population to 57,584—up from 51,969 five years ago.

In Boone County, Whitestown and Zionsville have also grown significantly. Whitestown’s population is only estimated to be 5,258, but that is an 83.4-percent jump since 2010.

Neighboring Zionsville has an estimated 25,734 residents, an 81.7-percent increase.

Both counties have been among the fastest growing in the state for years.•
