Marion County Jail records say 48-year-old Marvin Sharp, owner of Sharp's Gymnastics Academy, was being held Monday on a preliminary charge of child molesting.
Those charges were increased on Tuesday to three counts of child molesting and four counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. All of the charges are felonies.
Sharp was arrested after police officers searched his Indianapolis home and his business at 8070 Georgetown Road on Sunday. Details on the allegations against him weren't immediately released, and the Marion County prosecutor's office said the case remained under investigation.
The Associated Press left a message seeking comment at a home phone number listed in Sharp's name.
Sharp coached Bridget Sloan of Pittsboro and Samantha Peszek of Indianapolis before they were members of the U.S. team that won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
He was named USA Gymnastics Coach of the Year in 2010.
