A longtime local real estate developer has agreed to open five Taco John’s restaurants in Indianapolis with an option for 10 more.

The Mexican-themed fast-food chain based in Cheyenne, Wyoming, said the franchises operated by Michael House will be the first in the city. Founded in 1969, the chain has 380 restaurants in 27 states.

“Taco John’s brings diversity to our company,” House said in a written statement. “There’s a plethora of guys doing burgers, but in the taco business—where we are in Indianapolis—you only have one main player.”

House, the owner of locally based Peacock Cos. Inc., operates two BoomBozz Craft Pizza and Taphouse locations for the Louisville-based franchise. He also is a developer for Walgreen’s and Arby’s.
