Across the country, and in some suburbs of Indianapolis, police stations have been encouraging residents to do business exchanges, such as Craigslist deals, in law enforcement lobbies or parking lots to increase safety and reduce scams.
Fishers announced the availability of its lobby, which is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., earlier this month. Westfield, Zionsville and Whitestown police departments also allow online business transactions to occur in their lobbies.
Police officers won’t personally assist with transactions.•
