study committee to figure out how the school can cope with its growing
enrollment amid budget limitations.
Ivy Tech officials worry the school may not be able to accommodate the
increasing crush of students. Summer-class enrollment is up 33 percent over last
year.
The study committee will try to come up with contingency plans on how to
handle the enrollment boom based on various budget scenarios. The group will
present its ideas in July.
The Indianapolis-based community college doesn’t know yet how much money it will receive, but Indiana
lawmakers hope to approve a new state budget by the end of June.
More than 120,000 students take classes at Ivy Tech’s 23 statewide campuses each
year.
