Subscribe NowButler University’s renovation of Hinkle Fieldhouse took the top honor at Wednesday evening’s Monumental Awards banquet, an annual event that recognizes excellence in architecture, engineering and construction.
Winners in six categories competed for the Monumental Award, presented by the Indy Chamber.
The $36 million project to modernize the 1928 landmark included adding 4,500 new chair-back seats throughout the lower portion of the fieldhouse, a video scoreboard (a first for Hinkle), wider concourses, larger concession stands, additional restrooms and an expanded gift shop.
Turner Construction Co. performed the work on the fieldhouse and won in the construction category, putting the fieldhouse renovation in contention for the Monumental Award.
