In addition, the Jasper-based company, which had about 650 employees before the announcement, told the Batesville Herald Tribune that it would shut down a manufacturing facility in Ferdinand that employs 24.
The Batesville closing is expected to be permanent, while the Ferdinand plant could reopen. The 400,000-square-foot Batesville plant is the company’s largest.
The closings will leave the company with five remaining plants or offices in Indiana, including two in Jasper, one in French Lick, one in Paoli and one in St. Anthony. It also operates two plants in North Carolina.
Jasper Group markets furniture through four divisions: JSI (office), Community (educational, government, dining), Klem (hotel) and Jasper Library Furniture.
