Carmel-based Gaylor Inc., one of the largest electrical contractors in the Indianapolis area, said yesterday that it has acquired Griffith Group Inc. in Lafayette. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Griffith Group is an electrical, heating and cooling contractor that mainly services customers in Tippecanoe and Lake counties. The company has 25 employees.

Gaylor and Griffith Group are familiar with one another, having worked together on projects at Purdue University, said Chuck Goodrich, vice president of Gaylor’s Indianapolis operations, in a written statement.

“We are very excited to now have an office in the Lafayette area so as to better service the electrical needs up and down the Interstate 65 corridor in the western part of the state,” he said.

Gaylor, a non-union contractor, offers a range of electrical services to the commercial, health care, industrial and utility sectors.

With 2007 revenue of $91.1 million, it is the second-largest electrical contractor in the area, trailing only Ermco Inc., according to the most recent IBJ statistics. The company was founded in 1985.
