The iconic Hardwicke’s Pipe & Tobacco shop just south of Monument Circle has closed.
The space, at 18 N. Meridian St., has been cleared of its inventory of cigars and other smoking paraphernalia, in addition to the old-time celebrity caricatures that stood in the storefront window for display only.
Hardwicke’s had been a downtown staple since 1977. A sign in the window instructs patrons to visit the Broad Ripple shop at 743 Broad Ripple Ave.
A store employee declined to comment on the closing.
