Premier said Monday that the laptop was returned by mail on or about March 7.
An Indianapolis-based security consulting firm did a forensic analysis of the laptop and determined it hadn't been powered on since being stolen from Premier's billing office, the Herald-Times of Bloomington reported. Premier said that based on the evaluation, there's no evidence that the information of more than 200,000 patients was accessed.
Police and Premier are investigating how the laptop was stolen.
While based in Bloomington, Premier Healthcare has other offices in Martinsville, Linton, Bedford, North Vernon, Paoli and Spencer.
