Indiana American Water crews worked overnight to repair the 12-inch line and did not immediately know what caused yesterday’s break.
The company issued a warning for much of the downtown area, advising that tap water not be used for drinking or cooking unless it has been boiled for five minutes. The warning area included the Kokomo City Hall and the Howard County Courthouse.
The water troubles led the City Council to call off last night’s meeting.
