Subscribe NowAs president of the Jewish Community Relations Council, I am grateful for the clearheaded way Mickey Maurer calls out how underhanded this “victory” was for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement [Student sacrifices integrity to win vote, June 20].
As a professor, I appreciate how Maurer also calls out UIndy’s administration for failing its students. At their best, schools at all levels should prepare future citizens to participate in and lead our democracy. Here, the students learned that the rules don’t matter as long as you can bully your way to victory. What an insult to the idea of a fair and deliberative democratic process. And what a dangerous lesson for the future health of our democracy.
