Under Ball State’s proposal, in-state undergraduate students would pay an extra $329 for 2009-10, or a total of about $7,830 for the academic year.
The school’s trustees are scheduled to set the new rates at their July 24 meeting. A school spokesman said the tuition portion of students’ bill would go up 3.26 percent, below the 4-percent increase limit requested by the state Commission for Higher Education.
Among other public universities in the state, Indiana University plans a 4.6-percent tuition increase and Ivy Tech Community College is proposing a 4.9-percent hike.
