Here are some of the responses (beyond the many Spinal Tap, Commitments, “Drumline” drummers, and Beatles picks) which clearly show the diversity of our readership:
The Glenn Miller Orchestra in “Orchestra Wives.” (Elizabeth Fleming)
George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic in “PCU.” (Ryan Akers)
The Soggy Bottom Boys from “O Brother, Where Art Thou.” (Vivian Lobb)
The Folksmen from “A Mighty Wind.” (L. Rapkin, Beatrice Bursten)
Double Deuce house band in “Road House.” (Irma Higgins)
The Drovers in “Blink.” (Michael Piper)
Josie and the Pussycats. (Scott Manson)
Otis Day and the Knights in “Animal House.” (Brian Brown)
The Wonders in “That Thing You Do.” (Janet Davies)
Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters in “That Thing You Do.” (Kimb Stewart)
The Feelies in “Something Wild.” (Kent Knorr)
The Blues Brothers. (Gregg Hiland)
School of Rock. (Kristen Lewis)
Save Ferris in “10 Things I Hate About You.” (Traci Ford)
Marvin Berry’s band from “Back to the Future.” (Tyler Koontz) For the record, that was Marvin Berry and the Starlighters. For those interested in fictional musicians, I highly recommend wasting time at the Encyclopedia Fakebandica, which can be found here [www.fakebands.com] -L.H.
Animal’s band in “The Muppet Movie.” (Lea Bruskern) That’s Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. -L.H.
“The Wedding Singer and whatever his band name was.” (Brandon Emkes) The band’s name was never said. Lead singer, though, was Robbie Hart, whose previous fictional band, Final Warning, is mentioned. -L.H.
