The Indianapolis Airport Authority plans to sell thousands of items from its old passenger terminal during an auction next month.

The authority hopes to make at least $500,000 as it sells off building materials, office equipment, signs and other items, such as a 5-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty and 35 posters featuring Princess Diana.

Airport officials say workers have spent months identifying which items should be sold and which should be reused or discarded. Industry-specific equipment such as jet bridges will be sold by closed bid, while some building infrastructure will be sold through negotiated sales.

The airport’s new $1 billion terminal opened last November. Officials expect to use revenue from the Aug. 4 auction to help cover a projected $15 million budget shortfall for this year.
Indianapolis-based Commercial Liquidators of America was selected to manage the sealed-bid, negotiated-sale, and public auctions.

Items with nostalgic value for local history and aviation buffs, including signage, banners, and benches, will also be sold at the public auction.
