The Indianapolis Downtown Restaurant & Hospitality Association is making big changes to its “Devour” events starting next year, the organization announced Monday.

Separate events Devour Downtown, Devour Northside and Chow Down Midtown will be combined to create a large city-wide event called Devour Indy that will run in two parts: from Monday, Jan. 23 to  Sunday, Feb. 5, and from Monday, Aug. 21 to Sunday, Sept. 3.

Participating restaurants will continue to offer diners three-course, value-priced menus during the promotion.Organizers anticipate more than 300 restaurants taking part.

“Devour Indy will provide an opportunity for even more eateries to participate in a restaurant week event to help showcase the Circle City and surrounding areas as a thriving region and travel destination,” Patrick Tamm, president and CEO of the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association, said in a written statement. “We expect at least half a million people to take advantage of the Devour Indy dining experience in addition to promotions offered at partner hotels and local attractions.”

Devour events were started in 2005, when fewer than 25 restaurants participated in the first Devour Downtown event.

The event eventually grew to 90 restaurants and spawned more events, including Devour Northside and Chow Down Midtown.

Next year’s restaurants and menus are still being determined, but eventually will be available at www.devourindy.com.
