Pink Ribbon Connection is gathering women’s coats of all sizes (gently used or new) for the Embrace Program at Eskenazi Hospital. Many of the women coming for cancer treatment have no coat to wear. Bring coats, gloves, scarves and hats to the Pink Ribbon Connection office, 1139 Shelby St., between 9 a.m.to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. They may be left inside the vestibule at their door. They are also gathering toiletry items: lotion, soap, deodorant, shower gel, and toothpaste and toothbrushes for the women. Contact 317-255-7465.
Avalanche Food Group, owners of Twin Peaks restaurants in Indianapolis and Texas, worked with the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation and the Homeless Initiative Program, organizations who help find permanent housing for local veterans, to distribute vouchers to veterans in need of a Christmas tree, stand, lights, ornaments and decorations.
Twenty Methodist Sports Medicine employees served meals and assisted Indianapolis Colts’ Darius Butler with distributing shoes and socks to homeless men at Wheeler Mission. Dr. Porter and Dr. Smerek of MSM provided free foot exams. Our Hearts to Your Soles is a national effort to provide the less fortunate across the United States with shoes and free foot examinations.
