NCAA promotes Gavitt, Luck in shakeup of senior staff

NCAA President Mark Emmert on Wednesday announced a reorganization of senior staff in the championships group at the national headquarters in Indianapolis.

Dan Gavitt, the vice president of men’s basketball, will be elevated to a new position: senior vice president of basketball. Gavitt will oversee all basketball issues and planning for men's and women's basketball in all three divisions: Division 1, II and III. He will continue to manage the governing body's partnerships with television networks for the men's tournament.he changes announced Wednesday will take effect Jan. 1.

Oliver Luck, executive vice president of regulatory affairs, will add strategic oversight of corporate and broadcast partnerships. He'll oversee football issues, strategy and long-term planning. His new title will be executive vice president of regulatory affairs and strategic partnerships.

Vice president of women's basketball Anucha Browne will report to Gavitt.

Joni Comstock was named senior vice president of championships after taking over as interim executive vice president of championships and alliances.
