Confirming reports that began surfacing late last month, D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc. officially announced Thursday that it has reached agreement with three wholesalers in the state. The brewery, based in Pottsville, Pennslvania, has been in business since 1829.
Three wholesalers will sell Yuengling in Indiana: Indianapolis-based Monarch Beverage, Columbia City-based Five Star Distributing and Valparaiso-based Indiana Beverage.
The companies will begin by distributing Yuengling Traditional Lager, Light Lager and Black & Tan in March. After that, Yuengling will gradually phase in the sale of its seasonal and heritage brands.
Indiana will be the 20th state where the brewery's beers are sold.
Yuengling has a loyal following among beer drinkers, and fans have long asked for the company to begin distributing it in Indiana. A Facebook page, Hoosiers for Indiana, has drawn more than 11,000 likes.
